Winter is a perfect time for dormant pruning – particularly Fruit and Deciduous Trees (trees that lose their leaves). If you want better balance and shape to the trees on your property, now is a great time to prune and get the results you want.
When pruning your trees, remove fast growing branches that do not typically produce fruit (sucker growth), dead wood, cross branching and unwanted branches. This will improve the health, vigor and shape of the tree. Spending time in the winter months pruning your dormant trees will help improve fruit production and provide a better shaped and healthier tree as it actively begins to grow.
